What is a NUC?

nucNUC is a funny name but relates to a new form of PC. It is a small form factor PC measuring 4 inches by 4 inches. Why have a PC so small you say and wouldn’t it be too slow? Well the size open up a whole new range of applications such as:

  • digital signage.
  • multimedia PC (HTPC) connected to a large screen tv.
  • point of sale (POS) system.
  • create an uncluttered office area by attaching the unit to the back of a monitor.
  • great for dirty and dusty locations.
  • thin client machine.
  • retail kiosk.

In terms of speed the units can come with CPU’s up to a Intel Core i5 providing plenty of power and combine that with a SSD drive and you have one small powerful unit.
