Hi *|FNAME|*,

Happy New Year to all our clients and followers. A big thank you for your support in 2022 and we wish you all the best in 2023. I hope you all had at least a bit of a break and I look forward to working with you again in 2023. Our office is currently on limited staffing numbers until we all return on Monday, 9/1/23.

In January last year, Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 and after January 10, 2023, Microsoft will no longer support Windows 8.1. Further information is here - End of support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 or contact us to find out your options moving forward.

On a similar note, Microsoft will be disabling Basic Authentication in Exchange Online in early 2023 - see Basic Authentication Deprecation in Exchange Online – Time's Up. This will mean older version of MS Office will fail to connect to Microsoft's Exchange email services.

Microsoft are making these changes to strengthen security within their MS accounts to make hacking and phishing attempts less effective. These changes are based around the MS Secure Score settings which we have previously mentioned. We now have a blog article describing what M365 Secure Score is and how you can use it to improve your security. If you would like us to look into this for you, please let me know.

Remember, it is 2023 now, businesses need to spend more time and effort in security and do more than just "turn on MFA" and use an antivirus program. I'm here to help and assist if you want more information.

If you would like to catch up to discuss your IT needs or just for a chat, please let me know via phone (0412 973 503) or email (david@dpcomputing.com.au).

Cheers,
David Perkovic

Out and About

Last month we have been busy right across Adelaide and Sydney. Some of the work we have been doing includes:

  • Paul and Ben were busy installing a new wireless network for a client. This one was comprised of a total of 52 wireless access points. We have an even bigger deployment coming up in January.
  • Paul and Ben were also busy installing a wireless bridge for Shottesbrooke to connect some of their IoT devices in their vineyards to the main network.
  • Zee was busy at the Adelaide Convention Centre with over 250 iPad's he had to deploy and manage for an event.
  • Staff had a great Christmas lunch at one of our clients, the award winning Currant Shed in McLaren Flat.

The equipment for a new Ubiquiti wireless network both Paul and Ben installed in December.

Paul and Ben had fun out at a winery installing a wireless bridge.
